These
are some personal photos from the
Chicago
Tea Party event on February 27, 2009, where hundreds of
conservatives showed up in freezing weather on short notice to protest
the changes which Congress and the Obama administration have been making
in recent weeks. Future event info.
Nationwide, there were over 40 protests with 15,000+
participants - organized locally in only one week. Some estimates
were as high as 30,000 participants.
There were 800+ nationwide Tax Day Tea Party protests
on April 15, and plans are in progress for even more and larger
Independence Day Tea Party
protests on July 4. Links below.

Thank you to the organizers of the Chicago Tea
Party taxpayer revolt, and to the hundreds of participants who
turned up on very short notice - just one week after
Rick Santelli proposed the idea of a
"Chicago Tea Party" in July. There was a sense of urgency among
the participants that by July, it may already be too late to stop the
changes. Simultaneous events were held in about 40 other cities.

Doug Powers coverage of the Lansing, MI Tea Party - where he estimated
a turnout of around 500 - 750 people, described as "probably every
Republican who lives in a 50 mile radius of the capitol". He also
suggested that Saturday might be better (for hard-working people to
attend) and that a focus on a larger event in DC might have more impact.
