September 29, 2010 - WSJ Stephen Moore -
Walloping the Middle Class - The impact of the expiration of the
Bush tax cuts on the "middle class" and lower income workers.
Examples as described in the article per the
Tax Foundation:
 | Income $40,000 single mom - taxes go up $1,607 |
 | Income $45,000 family of four - taxes go up $2,083 |
 | Income $120,000 (two income couple, 2 kids) - taxes
go up $4,499 |
 | The AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) is forecast to
affect 30 million more Americans in January |
 | Calculate the estimated impact on your own taxes
at http://www.mytaxburden.org/
|
The Democrats have had control of Congress since 2006
if they wanted to extend these
tax cuts. They didn't intend to do so. They had the votes, with no excuses. The Republicans
could not have blocked it since 2008. They chose to spend more
instead, and tried to also raise other types of new taxes, such as
through cap and trade and other initiatives Note
that those at the lowest marginal tax rate (10%) are at risk of it going
up to 15% - a massive increase. As for the estate tax, which hurts
many businesses, the Democrats have a plan. Die quickly - before
the estate tax comes back on January 1. |

$1 million, and another event to raised $750,000 in Washington DC, where

progressives whining in their ditch, wondering how their brilliant ideas
for big government landed them there after they were confident that they
could drive their agenda at high speed. The car wasn't in a ditch

helped to create this mess even before that. They just finished the job

September 25, 2010 -
Obama takes on GOP on taxes, economy - Does anybody except the
AP still listen to him on Saturday AM? Try comparing the hits for
his weekly radio address between early 2009 and now.
Remember that the AP touted that his campaign had over 12
million email followers after the 2008 election, which he turned over to
the DNC to create Organizing for America. Before his election, he filled
football stadiums, such as the one in Denver, and attracted throngs of
supporters, as on election night in Chicago. Now he can't even fill a
600 seat ballroom in New York City with half-price tickets, and faces
hecklers as well as tough questions from his disillusioned former
supporters. He stages controlled events with a few supporters in
fenced backyards to try to create the illusion that he is in touch with
the "middle class". Americans recognize patronizing arrogance.
They don't like being played for fools. They will remember in November.
He can try to blame the GOP and scare people while seeking empathy as
victim-in-chief, but it clearly isn't working. |

3 new senators to take office 2 months early - Illinois (Mark
Kirk), Delaware (Christine O'Donnell) and West Virginia (John Raese) can

after the election. If you don't trust every Republican Senator to
stick to conservative principles rather than cut objectionable deals,
remember this. |
|
September 23, 2010 -
Senate GOP again blocks campaign finance bill - Defending the
First Amendment against the deceptively named DISCLOSE Act. It is
a transparent attempt to stifle dissent, especially by local grassroots
groups. Why should everyone who exercises their freedom of
political speech be required to identify themselves in public and to
regulatory officials? I don't recall that caveat in the First
Amendment. Tell the Senator from NY where he can put his carrot sticks. |

Senate Democrats To Delay Action on Expiring Tax Cuts Until After
Elections - Don't be fooled by the Dems who pretended to be in

How Seniors Will Pay for ObamaCare - WSJ opinion column by NCPA.
Seniors, who have a lifetime of experience at being played for fools by
specious politicians at election time, need to
take a careful look at what is
really happening. There's a reason why virtually no Democrats are
touting their healthcare votes in this election - because the illusory
promises of freebies for all are already driving up health insurance
costs and forcing people to change plans. |
|
September 23, 2010 -
Double-digit hikes for some Medicare drug plans - Is anyone
surprised by this? Plans
shutting down. Note the line in which Medicare acknowledges that
their assumptions of lower cost increases are based on the idea that
seniors will switch plans if their premiums go up - despite promises
that they won't have to change their plans. |

|
September 23, 2010 -
Senate rejects bid to overturn new union rule - A reminder of
the urgent need to win as many Senate seats as possible in November.
Otherwise, a few weak Senators can cut deals like this with the
progressives, especially when the issues involved aren't attracting a
lot of media attention and public interest. It would be nice if we
could trust our representatives to do the right thing without having to
track every piece of harmful legislation, but we obviously can't.
The solution is apparently to flip around 10 Senate seats this November,
and then work hard to flip 20 more in 2012, and keep doing it in 2014
until it finally registers with the politicians that we have the
patience and determination to end all of their careers if they don't
stop doing things like this. This November is just the beginning. We
have just begun to fight. It doesn't end here. |

Obama aide's exit could be prelude to more changes - Prelude to
nearly 100 changes in the House and Senate, not to mention staff in the
White House and state governments. Watch for a surge in the Democratic
unemployment rate after Nov 2, unless they are all able to retreat to
academia like Summers, or to progressive non-profit groups as their
safety net for dismal failure in office. Time to lock that
revolving door shut after them again for a few decades. |

Backstage with Glenn Beck at RightNation 2010 - I doubt that any

unlike the few abusive protesters who were
brought in by bus from Chicago in a lame attempt to disrupt the evening.
Herman Cain at RightNation 2010 - He gave a rousing speech which
even impressed Glenn Beck. If you haven't seen Herman Cain before,

her own initiative as suggested by the DNC website for OFA -- Organizing

It's almost election time. Do you know what your
state has been doing to implement "cap
and trade" already? If you thought this was dead just
because federal legislation has been stalled in the Senate, think again.
Watch the states, which are using their regulatory authority over public
utilities to implement this scheme to drive up your energy costs and
thereby gain more revenue which they can spend on their agenda -
"alternative energy", environmental projects, redistribution of wealth
through cash rebates or credits to favored groups as in the stimulus
bills, etc. These zealots just won't give up. Your utility
bills (business or personal) will "necessarily skyrocket", as Obama once
said in a rare moment of candor. |

Book says aides doubt Obama's Afghan strategy - Bob Woodward
pushing "Obama's Wars". I
challenged
his Afghan strategy back in January 2009 because of the "big
government" focus on leaders in Kabul. A surge strategy trying to
create a strong central government where none had existed was
intuitively contrary to the Afghan culture and history, contrary to the
situation in Iraq. The politicians and bureaucracy in Washington DC seem
pathologically incapable of recognizing the decentralized nature of
power in Afghanistan's tribal society, and the centuries of distrust
(based on direct experience with tyranny) of the consolidation of power
in a strong central government. Reuters version

be opposed to the idea of Barack running for President? Now she
can tell everyone how proud she is of her party, and all the radical
things they still plan to do together to make her proud of America for
the second time in her life.
She obviously enjoys fundraising galas. She may as well
enjoy them while she can, since working the liberal gala circuit is
likely to be their only career option after 2012, especially if Soros &
Co writes them off as a failure and shifts focus to somebody else as
their next great progressive leader.

Obama restates opposition to tax cuts for wealthy - CNBC forum

himself as the victim. The US is still the world leader despite
Obama's best efforts. Unfortunately, he still has 2 years to finish the

for President who promised to stay within funding limits, but then broke
that promise once he realized that he could raise far more money to help
assure his victory in 2008?
What complete hypocrites the Democrats have been on this issue. The
DISCLOSE Act is a transparent attempt to stifle freedom of speech,
especially by grassroots groups. The attacks on corporate donations are
ironic since this administration has relentlessly followed an
anti-business agenda. They're all for money in politics, as long as it
is money given to their own side. Let's see if they are willing to give
up all money from labor unions or front groups associated with George
Soros. |

September 17, 2010 - If you needed any more reason to support
Adam Kinzinger
against Debbie Halvorson, have a look at what her campaign attempted to
do recently. No matter whether you regard yourself as conservative
or liberal or in between, there is no excuse for this type of behavior
by a member of Congress. If Nancy Pelosi has any integrity left at
all, she will initiate an ethics investigation or censure action.
If Debbie Halvorson had any integrity left, she would resign as a
disgrace to her constituents. The ties to OFA (DNC successor to

clearly disgraces the Democratic Party leadership (which is no small
feat, given their disgraceful actions and arrogant contempt of voters).

Pre-election Rangel, Waters ethics trials unlikely - Stalling.
The interesting thing is the potential consequence of waiting until

victim card as usual. Watch for a very hasty lame-duck effort to sweep
this all under the rug before the new Congress convenes in January. |

Obama to Latinos: Don't forget who stands with you - If you
trust big government elites to make your life better, why aren't Latin
American countries the leading economies of the world, with the highest
standards of living? Did you immigrate here to become political
pawns for power-seeking politicians, or to create a better future for
your family?
There is only one party which stands with you - and
that's the Tea Party movement by bringing Republicans back to common
sense about what makes America exceptional - and it's not Democratic
"social justice" entitlement programs. Look around Latin America
at the relentless history of failure by such regimes, and how they have
impoverished so many generations under corrupt elites. Ask
yourself whether you would rather live in Venezuela or America. If
Venezuela, vote D in November. Even Fidel
Castro seems to finally "get it" to some degree - after
destroying the lives of millions of people for decades.
Do you notice a pattern here? It's not about

Washington. |

GOP tries to bring tea party enthusiasm into fold - Why not "Tea

inside the Beltway. This isn't about restoring Republican "leaders" to
power in DC. It's about "we the people" acting as a check on the
relentless, unprincipled abuse of power and growth of federal and state
government by leaders in both political parties. Regardless of
good intentions or misguided ideological agendas, they have screwed up
the entire country for decades. Enough is enough.
Performance in office at the enumerated tasks still matters in this
country. They were not elected to just do as they please. |

September 16, 2010 -
Expiring tax cuts hit taxpayers at every level - Pelosi is now
trying to rebrand the Bush tax cuts as an Obama middle-class tax break,
while still pushing the socialist class warfare agenda to target the
rich for higher taxes. The obvious point is that this reminds
everyone in the middle class that the Bush tax cuts didn't just favor
the rich, as the Democrats have repeatedly lied for years. If that
were the case, the middle class would have nothing to fear now other
than the costs and debt of all the outrageous new spending by the Obama
administration, which not even the richest can afford. Obama and
Pelosi aren't offering a middle-class tax cut. They are just
seeking political cover now for their past lies. Even if they
grant the "middle class" a temporary tax cut extension now to try to
salvage their grip on power in this election, their massive spending
will eventually raise middle class taxes. They're just playing the
middle class for fools again. Don't buy it. |

AP-GfK Poll: Deep divisions over tax hikes - see the earlier

AP-GfK Poll: Nearly half oppose tax hikes for rich - Interesting
change in AP spin of the headline for the same story. Note that
the poll was of 1000 random adults - not likely voters. That can
significantly skew the results.
Frustration and disappointment = 80%. Note that the
alleged $700 billion cost of "tax cuts for the rich" over the next ten
years reflects the mythical assumption, in existing budget projections,
that all of the Bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire at the end of
this year. That is distracting attention from the assumption that
trillions of dollars in middle class taxes were expected be raised by
letting all their Bush tax cuts expire. The Obama administration
has already spent all that money, so now they can't even afford to give
the middle class the same tax break they have already enjoyed for years
(despite all the lies about Bush just giving tax breaks to the rich),
much less provide any new tax breaks or benefits to them. The
government is broke, and voters know it, so the idea that Obama and
Pelosi are trying to give "middle class" voters a tax break now is
laughable. Until they were facing electoral defeat in a few weeks,
they were not even talking about this issue. They were just going
to let these taxes go up, and then keep raising new ones too. |

Tea party-backed O'Donnell wins upset in Del. - Castle wasn't
exactly gracious in defeat. As with the recent Murkowski defeat in
Alaska, the GOP leadership still doesn't seem to "get it".
Principles matter. Mike Castle has done many good things during
his long career, but his votes in recent years reflected poor judgment
and the sort of RINO deals in the Senate which voters are very angry
about, because they undermine the principles of the party nationally.

Cuba to cut 500,000 gov't workers; reform salaries - Given the
difference in economic size, how many million government jobs would have
to be cut in the USA to have a comparable impact?
Later version of the story Let's see. If we started a 5
year plan to cut 100,000 federal jobs per year ... how many years would
it take before the US government would get back to a sustainable scale?
Of course, state and local cuts are needed, too.
Go back and look at how many federal employees there were at the time of
the first Civil Service reform under Ulysses S. Grant soon after the
Civil War. At the time, the US population was around 1/4 of the current
level, but the federal government had around 5000 employees (excluding
the military and post office). So, it should have around 20,000 today,
rather than over 2 million, right? That means each of us is supporting
100x as much federal bureaucratic overhead per capita as in that era.
It's actually much worse, since the overhead of all the government
programs is vastly more than just the payrolls involved. |

Obama says his policies have stabilized economy - So, he has
achieved sustainable failure. His anti-business policies, however, have
precluded recovery. Now there is some optimism because, after November,
voters may achieve some degree of damage control by restoring gridlock
in DC, so that at least bipartisan deals will be necessary to keep
growing government and inflict further harm. The outlook for 2012,
however, remains uncertain. Yes, the country will recover someday,
despite the ambitious efforts of this administration to screw up the
economy more than any other in history. When he talked about the
"fundamental transformation" of America, and "change", was this
nightmare what he hoped to achieve, or was it just the unintended
consequence of misguided policies by inept zealots who will not listen

GOP tries to take out tea party-backed candidate - Or: Tea Party
tries to take out GOP-backed candidate. It all depends on your
point of view. This poses a dilemma for the news media, however,
who clearly despise both and relish any divisive quarrels over
principles.
Tea Party Express labels FEC complaint "smear campaign" - More
evidence, if any was needed, of why voters need to stand up to the GOP
leadership which has violated the spirit if not the letter of its own
party rules (see
RNC Rule 11 ) about primary elections by openly advocating for
Mike Castle.
This also illustrates why we need to be worried that a
few GOP Senators may yet cave in and approve rather than filibuster the
DISCLOSE Act, which basically serves to undermine freedom of speech and
the development of grassroots groups. We dare not trust them to
not sell out our freedom of speech to cut a deal or save their own

It's the "Fall of Liberty". Either we vote them out to restore

Obama kicks off campaign with infrastructure plan - Note that
the plan is for the $100 billion in new spending to be funded largely by
raising taxes on the oil and gas industry, thus killing jobs in one

businesses. Of course, he was always OK with the idea that energy
prices for all would "necessarily skyrocket" as part of his agenda.

September 6 -
Obama launches big week on economy . Note that the estimated
$100 billion in R&D tax credits over the next 10 years would be funded
"by ending some corporate tax breaks". So, that translates as $100
billion more taxes to pay for $100 billion in tax credits? He's
also talking about more "clean energy" and "infrastructure" spending.
He just won't call that stimulus or earmarks this time.
Expiring tax cuts pose dilemma for US lawmakers - The Dems are
still committed to ideological class warfare. Logic and economic
results have nothing to do with this. It's just another emotional appeal
to rally the "victims" with handouts while targeting the rich
"oppressors" who obviously don't deserve to be more successful as a
matter of "social justice". If the role of government is to

| Note
that at www.Breitbart.com you can
see reader comments about the articles by following the "Show Comments"
link which is found at the bottom of each article. Since most
articles no longer show up for visitors there within 24 hours, many
articles have few comments unless they were very hot topics that day.
The AP often releases multiple versions of the same story, even with
very minor revisions, in which case a new page is created for each
version. That causes reader comments to be scattered across
multiple versions of the story. We do not attempt to link to every
version of the story. |
| At
some point links may no longer work because the other websites involved
will purge their content, but a Google search for the same headline may
still find them through other sources for reference. |
| This
tool was created to make it easier for conservative voters to go back
and find relevant political stories long after they have disappeared
from the current headlines. In some cases these stories were
hardly even mentioned at the time in the liberal news media, or quickly
disappeared from the news, so many voters may be completely unaware of
them. Some of the stories display obvious bias by the reporters,
but readers can be the judge of that. The comments reflect our own
editorial opinion on these stories. |
