RNC chair candidate proposes ballot measures - Although Collins
says he is worried about avoiding third party pressures in the Tea Party
movement, that just shows how clueless he is about the movement.
There has been virtually no support for a third party from the start,
and indeed there has been very adamant opposition to it in many groups.
Note that the third party candidates in 2010 were the RINO weasels who
GOP insiders had favored, and who wouldn't go away when they were
defeated in primaries. As political director
under Michael Steele, who he recently attacked when he quit and
announced plans to run for the chairman position, what did he do to win
the confidence and support of Tea Party groups? His call for
referendums would just distract energy away from the grassroots efforts
to find and support better candidates in the primaries, and thus leave
the field clear for business as usual among GOP insiders. Does he
think we're stupid? His focus is still on money and power at the
top of the GOP, not support for grassroots party changes. |
| December 20,

SPIN METER: Conflicting GOP messages on pay cuts - Note the
potentially deceptive references to "personnel expenses" versus "federal
salaries". A change in the office budget for staff costs doesn't
necessarily equate to unconscionable raises in salaries. For example,
some of the personnel costs may relate to expenses such as benefits
programs over which they may have very little direct control, as in the
case of businesses which face rising healthcare or other costs unrelated
to employee performance or general inflation. Distrust such biased
stories, which are obviously intended to target Republicans as
hypocrites. If there were any integrity in journalism or editorial
discipline these days, they would at least compare Republicans to what
the liberal Democratic members of Congress have been doing after they
seized power in 2006. |

Elected officials start `No Labels' group in NY - Try not to

it attracted prominent GOP / RINO losers to this launch. Where is the

top-down scheme. Does anybody remember the launch of the "coffee party"

anyone who disagrees with them as extremists or idiots.
Rather than "No Labels", they should call it "All Losers". |

Steele's tenure as GOP chief may be nearing end - The AP is
still pushing the same story with a slightly different spin.
Whatever the GOP leadership does, it should not reward Gentry Collins
with the position after his self-serving recent media attack on Steele.
If you are basing your criticism of Steele on what you have been told by
the MSM about him, think twice about the source and the motives of his
critics, and their use of Alinsky tactics to isolate and attack their
adversaries. Steele is not the problem. He is
the scapegoat for those in the GOP who still want to consolidate more
power and money at the top in the RNC. Is that really what you want? Or
do you want to empower voters by making the state and local GOP
organization more responsive to "we the people" than to a central party
chairman? Is central party planning from the top down now the favored
model of Republicans, or just the statist progressives and their RINO
friends? Think about it. |

GOP governors already looking to 2012 election - They need to
set a good example for conservative government in action in the states -
not focus on White House, DC. That includes building up the party at the
local level within their states, and making sure that local governance
is also better. The grassroots level of the GOP organization has been
allowed to decay by too much focus on winning national races at election
time, and not enough at reaching out and listening to the concerns of
voters and performing better between elections If GOP politicians
are to be trusted again, they need to do better at local relationship
development work among voters, rather than rely on vague campaign
rhetoric, attack ads, and waffling on key issues to get elected.
For voters to enthusiastically stand with them, they need to stand for
something different and restore faith in their actions. |

Uneasy House Democrats keep Pelosi as their leader - Good news!
-
Nov 18 version of the same story Now let's work hard in every
D district in the country to make this a pyrrhic victory in 2012. There
are 23 Democratic Senate seats up for election in 2012, and only 10
Republican ones (with Scott Brown in MA in the most jeopardy). There are
also many members of Congress which remain vulnerable despite winning
this time. Let every hard-left progressive face a more moderate primary
challenger, and get solid GOP candidates through their primaries so that
voters are not left with another Hobson's choice between the lesser of
evils. Get organized now. Don't focus on the
distraction of all the White House wannabes in 2012. Focus on flipping
the Senate to a 60 vote supermajority for the GOP to avoid filibusters -
or even a 2/3 majority It won't be easy, but it won't happen if we wait
or get distracted. Meanwhile, get stronger in every district and state
by building up local voter relationships with volunteer groups, and
build on the new majority in the House by flipping even more districts
to more conservative candidates who are really committed to limited
government. |

Victorious GOP sets out to repair image - It really needs to
repair far more than that - such as the organization at the state and
local level so that the leadership becomes more responsive to Republican
voters, not vice versa. The GOTV performance in 2012 needs to be
much better - and that means the organization needs to be rebuilt in
2011 and 2012 so that voters actually have some connection to the party
at the local level, and a sense of engagement and ownership, rather than
just watching the national "leaders" recite talking points on TV. |

Labor secretary: Obama doing good job on economy - Why do we
even have a Department of Organized Labor? It may actually do some
useful things, but surely there are better approaches than the way it
exists today. Better to get rid of it completely, and let states work
out what needs to be done as provided by the 10th Amendment. Let them
compete without all the federal mandates, and see which states rise to
the challenge by developing globally competitive business environments,
and which ones fail.
At the very least, we could make some real progress by giving it a more
appropriate name for the statist economic policies of limitless market
intervention which it espouses, such as the Department of Useful Idiots.

Democrats hold financial advantage over GOP - later version with
updated details
Money can't buy them love. Note that the RNC and NRCC,
unlike the Dems, may face the challenge of voters not wanting to give to
national organizations. Instead, they may be favoring specific local
candidates who they trust. By contrast, the Dems are appealing for
national power by consolidating money at the top and doling it out to
the loyal cronies who they think can sustain their agenda in DC. Anyone
else is thrown under the bus. Thus, it's not really about what the Dem
voters want, as shown by the rare primary fights. They anoint whoever
they think will defend their grip on power. RINOs made the mistake of
copying that tactic, and now fewer individual donors trust the national
leadership. |

Record number of Indian-Americans seeking office - They do
actually come from a democracy, even if it has had strong ties to
UK-style bureaucratic socialism and a heritage of statist rule.
That may explain why many have gravitated to the Democrats, rather than
Republicans, even though they presumably came here to get away from the
economic failures of statist regimes. |

GOP lawmaker with BP stock has role in spill probe - What a
remarkable coincidence. A day after Rahm Emanuel is criticized for
living rent-free in Washington DC in a home provided by a BP consultant,
a GOP member of Congress is attacked for owning BP stock.
Is anybody going to stand up for the BP shareholders against the
government attacks on this company? Yes, BP bears responsibility for the
disaster in the Gulf, but that doesn't justify the government trying to
drive them out of business by threats of prosecution, new taxes,
restrictions on payment of dividends, etc.
Does anybody remember how Arthur Andersen was driven
out of business through criminal charges which were later dismissed? The
threat of criminal prosecution can basically destroy the value of a
company and drive it out of business. This is bureaucratic tyranny,
rather than accountability. |

PA-12: A template for Democrats in November election? -
Interesting article from the Christian Science Monitor. See the
"lessons learned", but keep in mind that Critz won by 53%-45% in a district which is reportedly 2/3 Democratic. The
split was 70,867 D and 60,653 R, so the spread was only about 10,000
votes. This setback can still be reversed in November through hard
campaign work. After all, Critz won't be able to keep pretending to be a
moderate or conservative once he returns to the House. He can't
run away from Obama-Pelosi until November because they're going to need
his vote to keep pushing their radical agenda forward while they can. |

CPAC news. Once
again, the AP's Sidoti is pushing the same narrative as usual about
squabbling in a divided party. The fact that we now have contested
primaries, rather than no choice for voters because of deals among the
party insiders, is a healthy change. Unchallenged rule by liberal
incumbents is not a good thing. |

Review: Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" - Comment: It is time
to start the volunteer work and fundraising to defeat everyone who voted
for the "health reform" legislation and other recent atrocities. We need
solid primary challengers in every district, and the organization to
ensure their victory in November. That is the new mission of the 912
Project / Tea Party movement for 2010, since the Republican Party seems
to be incapable of getting organized and keeps pushing RINOs at us. |

April 1, 2009 - Lawmakers sent huge petition backing Obama budget -
Comment: How timely, on April Fool's Day, as Congress prepares
to ram through the budget with major new programs while using rules
which prevent a filibuster in the Senate. This petition of 642,000
supporters (as valid as ACORN voter registrations?) is the product of
the recent Organizing for America
push by Obama supporters, using his 12+ million campaign e-mail list and
volunteers to gather "pledges" of support (without any significant
details about the budget which they were supporting).
Actually, it turns out that
the 642,000 figure actually represents 3 copies - from 214,000 people to
their 2 senators and 1 House member. Compare that to the
Tax Day Tea Party crowd
turnout.
Let's see. In November
Obama got 66+ million votes. He got 1% of them to sign his budget
petition. Why is the AP so impressed by this latest stunt, but
completely ignores the Tea Party
movement? Do we really need to have 1 million protesters
nationwide on April 15 before they will take this seriously?
Here's another way of looking
at it. Mark Levin launched his new book,
Liberty and Tyranny, at roughly the same
time as the Obama pledge drive. It already sold 700,000
copies- without being promoted through any of the liberal TV networks or
newspapers (just Fox News and talk radio). Which is more
impressive? Getting people to sign a vague petition, or to buy a
book about conservative values? |

March 20, 2009 - DNC raises only $3.2 million in February - Comment:
Their efforts to demonize Rush Limbaugh also failed miserably, with a
pathetic 80,000 responses to their highly publicized free competition
(March 10) to suggest a slogan for an
attack billboard near his home in Florida.
Is this the best the DNC can
do after Obama got 65 million votes 4 months ago, even with his highly
touted database of 13+ million emails? Besides, some of the
responses may have been pro-Rush. Maybe even Democrats favor a
serious focus on important issues - or is it buyers remorse already? |
